Design & Development EngineerMy role as design and development engineer was a brought across from UV Modular. Here I was responsible for the ensuring the specification was met, along with building up the vehicle layout & assembly drawings and Type Approval of the various vehicles.

The opportunity arose to move to the design office, having developed design & process experience I took the opportunity to move to the next stage in my career. This role allowed me to get more involved in the design and development and advantage CAD mechanical design. - As part of this I gained experience in the use of Excel, Navision as part of the BOM creation, CAD 2D and the transition to 3D Cad Design (Auto Desk Inventor & Vault data storage).- Customer interaction was also part of this role, leasing with the sales department, providing them with the details and layout drawings they needed to secure any contracts. - Vehicle compliance and testing developed as part of the vehicle integrity and I was involved in some aspects of this, consulting the various teams to ensure we have the best solution along with attending physical tests and been introduced to various driving agencies.

Product Development Department - (1999-2002)- During my time in this department I worked as part of a 7 person team designing and producing timber patterns for fibreglass moulding these would come together to produce the next generation of Ambulance & Minibus.- Alongside this we would create any jigs / templates / sample parts working with the engineers to prepare the new model for production. - In the early years with this company, I spent time within the various departments of the business:- - Sheet metal production, - Welding, - Fibreglass Production, - Electrical, - Production sub assembly - Main line assembly, - Some time was spent in the design office gaining some knowledge of the process.- As part of this process additional education was gained via off site day release in vehicle body competence (Coachbuilding) levels 1,2 & 3 resulting in city and guilds qualifications.
