SCAD’s mission is to work with established agencies to reduce and/or prevent substance abuse and to promote prevention and education efforts addressing substance abuse. Specific relevant activities as Executive Director and Federal Grant Administrator:• Provide grant oversight, fund management, budget execution, and reporting for 8 grants annually•Prepare and maintain multiple program budgets including oversight, approving program related purchasing and expenditures• Increased annual operating budget from $67,000 to $135,000• Serve as a liaison between local coalitions, prevention center, and federal oversight office• Identify grant opportunities and take the lead in grant writing, forecasting budgets and expenses• Assess community need and collaborate with consultants to find solutions• Manage and coordinate a $135,000 annual budget utilizing a payment management system• Increased membership from 20 volunteers to over 60 volunteers • Responsible for payroll, accounts payable, disbursements, and cash receipts

Bluegrass Prevention Center, one of the regional prevention centers found throughout Kentucky, is responsible for providing support to local organizations, coalitions and policy boards for the 17 county Central Kentucky region regarding alcohol and other drug prevention efforts. Specific relevant activities as a Prevention Specialist and Assistant Director:• Serve as a liaison between local coalitions, policy boards, prevention center and state oversight offices• Assist community coalitions in identifying grant opportunities and taking the lead in grant writing, creating scope of work and budgets, and relevant reporting• Assist coalitions in evaluating and analyzing performance of interventions• Provide oversight of Champions grants awarded to four counties (as fiscal agent representative and liaison to Kentucky Office of Drug Control Policy)• Serve as Chairman for the Youth Empowerment System• Provide training and technical assistance to community coalitions across the state as requested regarding conducting needs assessment, strategic planning, implementing interventions, and evaluation of efforts• Participate in media relations including appearances on local television, providing interviews to local newspapers, and working with coalition members to identify key talking points and strategies for working with media• Assist local coalitions and policy boards in identifying policy changes to support healthier, drug-free communities and providing support in implementing local polices including presenting to city commissions and meeting with local government officials• Establish consensus and build relationships across the state to further the overall mission of preventing alcohol and other drug abuse, addiction, and related negative consequences• Served as coordinator of the Keep-It-Real program
