My responsibilities were primarily in the area of crop production systems. Educational programming consists of production and precision agriculture, water quality and drainage management, and geographic information systems and remote sensing. I administered the Grand Forks County private pesticide applicator trainings. I worked with the Grand Forks County Crop Improvement Association and foundation seed increase program. I also worked with NDSU Extension and growers on plot trials, research, and demonstration sites. I was involved in co-managing the Grand Forks County Small Grain, Soybean, and Corn Variety Trials and the International Crops Expo (ICE). I also worked with youth and adult volunteers in the 4-H program.

Mentor undergraduates working on research projects related to tribal community needs. Projects include water quality monitoring, geodatabase development, and remote sensing of wild rice. Enhance experiences in scientific research and geospatial science through ESRI’s ArcGIS; obtaining and analyzing existing data sources and collecting field data. Collaborate with tribal, state, and federal stakeholders.

Processed and orthorectified aerial and satellite imagery for the Upper Midwest Aerospace Consortium (UMAC) for products such as: Landsat TM5, Airborne Environmental Research Observation Camera (AEROCam), and International Space Station Agricultural Camera (ISSAC). Communicated procedure changes and data management. Leader in managing workloads, quality assurance, communication, training GRA’s, and developing new procedure manuals.

Performed georectification of historical aerial photographs and digitized vegetation change for a comprehensive mule deer habitat assessment in western North Dakota, “An evaluation of historical mule deer fawn recruitment in North Dakota.” Published March 2014

Emphasized green infrastructure and stormwater management in Crookston, MN. Enhanced community awareness of stormwater and water quality issues within the local watershed through community service events, public presentations, media, and implementation of best management practices. Organized service projects such as storm drain marking, water festivals, and community clean-ups. Designed and installed a raingarden at a long-term care facility. Inventoried stormwater infrastructure using hand held GPS units and ESRI’s ArcGIS. Collaborated with local watershed district to collect stormwater samples from City storm sewers during storm events; testing for turbidity.
