About Michael Koecher
Michael Koecher is a Senior Mechanical Engineer for Via Motors where he spends his time developing, testing, and validating designs for the electric powertrain that is installed into Via vehicles. He has spent the whole of his career in the automotive industry working on product development for hybrid and electric vehicles. Previous to Via Motors he was at Ford Motor Company as a member of the Electrified Powertrain Engineering department where he worked on future rear wheel drive hybrid powertrains, high voltage battery quality and design improvements, and hybrid "powersplit" system calibrations. Previous to that he attended BYU where he received a bachelors degree in mechanical engineering in which he completed a senior design project that involved designing and building a formula hybrid vehicle that took second place in an international competition. Followed by a masters degree where he researched new methods to sense damage to carbon fiber composites.
