In charge of all street, sewer, and water operations for the City of Montello. I have 4 employees that I direct to make sure each of the city's utilities, buildings, and grounds are always in working condition with good curb appeal. On the street side I make and implement an operational budget that I have to stay well within due to tight budgets. With the sewer and water utilities they are ran on an operational budget that I have set, but I can run that more as a business with setting rates and billing to make sure I always have a surplus of money at the end of each month. I work with many different agencies and companies to always make sure I stay ahead of the game and keep the city of Montello moving in a forward direction with technology and the times. Other common duties are customer relations, state reporting with DOT and WDNR, daily sampling and testing for sewer and water, always available for after hour emergencies. Also doing presentations for new equipment or projects to the many committees and boards is essential. Being passionate about what you need and have to do, also being able to say that in words to city residents is very important in this line of work if you want to keep in a forward motion.

As a lieutenant with Montello Fire and Rescue I have to be able at a moments notice be able to make life changing decisions for the common good of the people and my fellow firefighters. With 32 members on the department that are all paid volunteers, I have the responsibility of many different roles in the department like: fire suppression, patient care, vehicle extraction, water rescue, engine operations, and also being in a command role. I have the responsibility of many lives on my hand at any given time on any given day. I need to make tough decisions in the toughest conditions to make sure an objective gets done quickly and safely. There is also a lot of reporting that has to take place for each call, meeting, and training for the state and federal governments. I am also part of membership committee, where we are in charge of all personal, their issues, and all equipment.

Did everyday highway/roadside work for Columbia County. I was put on many different crews throughout my years there. They involve: signing, culvert, brushing, paving, shouldering, plowing, traffic control, crack filling, patching, and truck driving. When it came to paving season I was in charge of one of two things everyday which were either trucking or paving foreman. I would have direct trucks to locations with routes and material. Paving Forman was in charge of all paving, seal coating, and crack filling operations. Time keeping for all equipment, personal, and equipment was crucial to make sure you weren't going over your project costs.
