During 5 years at UBS, my role changed several times. From the beginning, my role was to develop and implement automations, procedures and improvements using Excel and Access. Also, I had the responsibility to work with IT on technical implementations. At the same time, I had responsibility for the production of regulatory reports (monthly, quarterly and annually) for countries such as Luxembourg, Germany, Italy, Japan, Singapore, Switzerland, Sweden and Taiwan. My role became more and more project-oriented and I was given further responsibilities to manage the implementation of new laws and regulations regarding mandatory reporting and the needs of our clients. Meanwhile, I continued with the production of regulatory reports and also began production of annual reports. Because many clients have different financial year ends, there were many accounts to consolidate each month, and even here I had the responsibility to improve procedures in order to save resources. In order to expand my knowledge of auditing, I took an accounting degree from ACCA (The Global Body For Professional Accountants) and with it, I had a good profile to lead the reporting unit. I became head of the reporting unit, consisting of 7 persons, June 2011. I was responsible for my team's performance and individual development and salary review. Moreover, I was responsible to create and maintain relationships with external auditors, internal department managers and account managers. I also continued with the production of financial statements and various reports. It was a very challenging job but I liked it and I was consistently given high marks on my annual performance rating.Lessons learned: I have what it takes to succeed in a challenging environment.

Luxembourg

Fidelity was my first job after finishing my degree and I was eager to start working with economic information systems and finance. In less than 2 years at Fidelity, I worked in accounting and reporting as an IT Economist. My role was to create automated reports using Excel, Access and/or SQL Server. It required a good understanding of basic accounting and advanced IT knowledge regarding Excel, Access and SQL. My colleagues were experts with these tools and I learned a lot from them. The most important thing I learned was how to build control systems to be able to examine the source data. Therefore, most of the work was to analyze and verify that the correct data went to the right report. It was a very fast paced work environment where development and production happened simultaneously. It was important to have a background in accounting and IT to manage it and achieve results. Lessons learned: Everything is possible with Excel and a database.

I worked part-time during my studies at Campus Gotland. This job was as support for a cellular phone company. I responded to customer queries on everything from billing questions to the settings on the phone. Lessons learned: It was more than a just a job but also a learning experience in customer contact.

I had a summer job on the boat Tjelvar. It was the most enjoyable summer job I ever had. It is a pity that the boat is no longer available at Destination Gotland. It was a very fun experience to live on a boat on a weekly basis. I worked in the food court.

Paris, France

I moved to Paris and worked as an English teacher at Formalangues. I quickly started finding clients and soon I was teaching up to 60 hours a week. I was offered a full time job but I decided that I wanted to study economics instead. Lessons learned: Everyone learns in their own way. To be a good teacher one must be sensitive to individual needs and not just teach.

November 1997-December 2001, September 2008-June 2009During this time I played basketball as a professional in Stockholm, Norrköping, Switzerland and Luxembourg. It was a great experience, especially the time in Norrköping since we played in several leagues across Europe. I've played matches in almost every country in Europe. Lesson learned: I learned that I have the discipline to follow a schedule and always gives 110%.
