As an Austrian jurist and political scientist, my research interests focus on national and international law, politics, religious education and state-church/religion relation, especially on the social and system integration of ‘Islam’ and Muslims into the educational and religious legal system of Austria. Through multidisciplinary approaches, e.g. in the sociology of law, I try to identify and analyse diverse factors influencing the relationship between the state and Islam, respectively, the Islamic Religious Community in Austria (IGGÖ) and its members and the non-organised Muslim community in general. I aim to elaborate on a social integrative and pluralistic ‘Austrian Islam’, i.e. an Islam lived under legal and political conditions in Austria where human and minority rights, civil society and social cohesion are protected against Islamist threats and ideological dangers within the Muslim community, such as teachings against the citizenship education. My academic achievements to date relate to Islamic dispute resolution, peacebuilding, European-Islamic theology, Islamic religious education, interreligious education, religious and cultural events in school, etc.
