Mick Kulik has taught in the Master of Environmental Studies (MES) Program at the University of Pennsylvania, as well as at the undergraduate level in the Department of Earth and Environmental Science, since 2008. His areas of specialty include environmental policy, watershed protection, food and agriculture policy, and public health and environmental health issues including asthma, lead poisoning, and tobacco addiction. He was the Director of the Public Policy Program at Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster, PA, where he taught in the Department of Earth and Environment from 2012 through 2018. His 37-year career with the Federal government included 27 years with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, where he held a variety of management positions including Director of the Office of Public Affairs, Deputy Director of the Office of State and Congressional Relations, Deputy Director of Enforcement, Compliance and Environmental Justice, Deputy Director of the Environmental Services Division, and Director of the Office of Environmental Innovation. At EPA, Mick taught courses in a variety of environmental management topics. He is also a seasoned meeting facilitator, and has trained and certified EPA staff as meeting facilitators. He was a faculty member for EPA’s international training program, through which he developed and facilitated courses in solid waste management and risk assessment and communication in Poland, Russia, and South Africa. He is certified as an instructor in the Incident Command System based on the National Incident Management System. Mick also taught for the Graduate School USA (formerly the USDA Graduate School) for 10 years in topics including HR management, supervision, management analysis, data collection and analysis, and cost-benefit analysis. He is a certified administrator of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator. Mick holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Villanova University and a Master of Science from Saint Joseph’s University.
