3 month contract role to assist the group manage an increased workload following an ownership change and a high employee turnover. Civium Property provide financial, secretarial and management services to body corporates throughout the east coast of Australia. The Brisbane branch service over 400 properties throughout south-east Queensland. The accounting has a very high volume of transactions and the business has suffered from a high turnover of finance staff in the last 12 months.In this contract role I have been responsible for the following:(i) Reviewing and submitting to lodging agent 80 BAS returns overdue from December 2019quarter, reviewing Activity Statements for compliance with submitted data and arranging payment of outstanding payables to ATO. Identified that many BAS returns were being completed using incorrect accounting basis compared to the method registered with ATO, i.e., cash rather than accrual. Developed and implemented process to re-work correct submissions and lodge amendments.(ii) Completing on-time submission of 80 BAS returns for March 2020 quarter.(iii) Compilation and delivery of monthly and quarterly financial statements and related information to bodies corporate, some of which had not been completed for many months. Liaising with Community Relationship Managers and accountants to respond to questions raised by Body Corporate Committees and property owners.(iv) Liaising with auditor to clear a backlog of 60 outstanding body corporate financial audits, including correction of transactional errors.(v) Reconciled 45 GST/BAS/PAYG clearing accounts to ensure all prior period returns were correctly submitted.

A short-term role to assist the company catch up following the promotion of the previous Management Accountant into the Finance Manager role. Achievements included completion of the FBT return for 2018-2019, bringing balance sheet reconciliations up to date, identifying and correcting errors in GST and Fuel Tax Credits reported in prior BAS returns. I contributed financial and other information, including plant and labour costing for several large tenders for Energex Qld and the Brisbane City Council. I also updated the labour and plant standard cost details for entry to SAP Business One and examined the profitability of several sub-branches and individual contracts, identifying and recommending areas for improvement to management.

Accountant – Clermont Coal Mine providing accounting support to site management and other operating personnel as well as to RTCA Commercial Management. Key responsibilities include monthly reporting to Joint Venture Partners and site management including variance analysis and Key Business Indicators and maintenance of the fixed asset register.Achievements:• Successful transition of month end and year end processes including reporting from capital project expenditure to full P&L for operating mine. This involved liaison with site-based personnel (mainly non-financial) to assist them with understanding what the transition meant to them, particularly in the areas of responsibility for costs, budgeting, accruals and capital expenditure applications.• Completed capitalisation of assets for the Clermont Coal Project totaling $1.2bn in SAP asset register;• Improved the format and compilation of month end Joint Venture reports resulting in a one day saving in reporting times including integration of reports to a single database incorporating both financial and non-financial results, thus allowing more time for management review prior to submission;• Developed and implemented process for tracking sales proceeds and disbursements of proceeds to JV partners.
