Traffic Engineering Unit, Road Operations, Engineering & Technology Branch

This position leads and manages the delivery of projects on Cycling & Walking Infrastructure related issues, mainly through the development and upkeep of Traffic Engineering Publications and provision of informed advice. This position also involves providing project management and technical support to the team, assisting with the delivery of road design training and assisting with the review and update of various technical publications.

This position focused on the state-wide roll out of Principal Cycle Network Plans and corridor level planning studies. This has also involved providing advice on route and link planning investigations to ensure that appropriate provision cycling is included. This role has involved, planning, application of technical knowledge and stakeholder engagement.

Safer Roads Branch, Road Safety & System Management Division

This position was a technical support role for the development of the new Queensland Cycle Strategy and Cycling Infrastructure Policy: providing data analysis, mapping support (GIS), impact statements, cost estimates and review. This position also involved providing procurement and technical support to the state-wide road system elements program for elements 12 (bicycle) & 14 (pedestrian), assisting with the delivery of design training and assisting with the review of the Road Planning & Design Manual.

Transport Planning Branch, Integrated Transport Planning Division

This position focused on the acquisition and management of transport data to evaluate the investment made in bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure in SEQ, to provide an evidence base for planning. This included traffic data, origin-destination data, travel behavior data, stated preference data, revealed preference data and spatial analysis using Geographic Information Systems (GIS). This involved data needs analysis, research into automated counting technologies, drafting technical guidelines for local councils and major projects, establishing test sites for different technologies, policy determination and technical advice.

Transport Planning Branch, Integrated Transport Planning Division

This position is a project support role; I have been gathering data for the Land Use and Public Transport Accessibility Index project, facilitating consultation and providing analysis for the Wide Bay Burnett Integrated Transport Plan, managing an external contractor for the Noosa, Nambor and Maroochydore Coridor Options Study and managing contractors and engaging stakeholders for the update of the Integrated Regional Transport Plan for South East Queensland.

Community Partnerships & Development Unit, Passenger Transport Division

This position required extensive data analysis and report writing for the travel behavior data and site assessment for the travel behavior change projects undertaken at: Mineral House, Cromwell House, Capital Hill, Spring Hill Office Complex, 400 Boundary St, Noosa City Council Office. This position also required delivery of travel behavior change interventions focusing on providing information and motivating participants to use sustainable transport options.

Strategy & Planning Unit, Passenger Transport Division

This position required representation of the strategic interests of the Passenger Transport Division, in this capacity I participated in the development of the passenger transport strategy and worked as a representative on the Transport Portfolio Environmental Framework working group. I was also tasked with undertaking research, contributing to discussion papers and providing feedback and analysis on policy papers in development.

Community Transport Solutions Unit, Passenger Transport Division

This position was my initial entry into Queensland Transport, where I underwent my induction training and learned how the passenger transport system operates. I was tasked with providing project support, advice and analysis on various projects, including the: Esk/Kilcoy Community Transport Trial (resource provision), Education Transport Reforms for the Future (transport advice), Flexible Transport Evaluation Committee (support), Unmet Transport Needs Forum and Transport Development Workers Toolbox (contractor engagement and management).

In this position I was engaged for six months to: assist in the initial operations of the QUT/MBF Walk to School program pilot in Brisbane City and to undertake research as to how the setup procedures and risk management manual could be re-written as a Bike to School program.
