About Michael Lebenbaum

I am the Senior Manager of Health Economics and Outcomes Research at the Canadian Cancer Society. I completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2023 and my PhD in health economics from the University of Toronto in 2022. My research interests are in the application of health economics and health technology assessment methodologies to the study of cancer, mental health and social capital. My teaching interests are in applied biostatistics, health economics and epidemiology. I have 10+ years of experience in and 36 publications (13 first author)* using population surveys and administrative health care databases to conduct epidemiology, health economics, public health, and health services research. I have also been involved in knowledge translation and health system reporting projects for public health units and the ministry of health.I have training in and publications related to: • Developing cost-effectiveness models • Disease and policy forecasting• Numerous statistical and econometric methods (longitudinal/multilevel analysis, survival analysis, propensity score matching, utilization/cost models, instrumental variable analysis, panel econometrics, etc.) • Developing, revising and applying risk prediction models• Stata, TreeAge, SAS• Working in a number of diseases/content areas: social capital, health care utilization and costs, diabetes, hospital and physician practice patterns, obesity, walkability, self-harm/suicide, psychiatric hospitalization pathways and outcomes, post-partum mental health, and social determinants of health (ethnicity, immigration, etc.). *My publication are listed here: https://scholar.google.ca/citations?user=pibxfoIAAAAJ&hl=en&oi=ao
