We believe- that good standards empower consumers;- that transparency is a catalyst for change enabling informed decision making of citizens, and- that an international perspective is needed to maximize societal benefits of the ongoing energy transition.We achieve our goals by- helping governments and businesses to understand and implement EU policies on energy and sustainability issues- using the power of multi-stakeholder partnerships and an inclusive network- encouraging all organisations to integrate sustainability information into their reporting cycle in a standardized and transparent way, thereby enabling citizens and consumers to make an informed choice when procuring goods and services; and- promoting sustainable (public) procurement practices

At the end of 2020 the 4th phase of CA-RES kicked off. Within the project I am responsible for the work on Guarantees of Origin and Disclosure, within CA-RES 4 I will once again chair the task force on this topic. The Concerted Action on the Renewable Energy Sources directive is a confidential forum, in which representatives of national administrations that are responsible for implementing the EU Directive 2018/2001 (formerly: 2009/28) can exchange their knowledge and share their experiences. Participants come from a varied mix of authorities including e.g. national ministries of energy, economy or agriculture as well as national energy agencies, regulators or TSOs.The Renewable Energy Directive laid down the EU legal framework; it's the national responsability for Member States and associated countries to work towards practical implementation and to contribute to reaching the agreed targets. Since each EU Member State has a different mix of (renewable) energy sources in its fuel mix and is faced with a number of country-specific challenges, there exists great potential for cooperation between Member States and for the sharing of lessons learned. In the years to come CA-RES will continue to support officials in national administrations, who are responsible for implementing the Directive, providing them with a structured confidential dialogue about aligned solutions, good practices and common approaches.

AIB is guaranteeing the origin of European energy. To do so AIB developed, uses and promotes a standardised system: the European Energy Certificate System - "EECS". Members of AIB are drawn from energy certificate system administrators across Europe. All are competent bodies for guarantees of origin or their agents - mostly transmission system operators, electricity regulators and energy market operators.On March 4th 2016 I have been officially appointed by the General Meeting of AIB as independent auditor / reviewer within their assessment panels . The audits (or so-called peer reviews) mean that AIB members, aided by an independent, professional auditor, audit each other’s system and its compliance with the EECS framework and other relevant regulations. The remit of a periodic review focuses the operations of the Scheme Member in actually fulfilling those obligations. Each member should in principle be audited every 3 years.EECS is based on structures and procedures which ensure and guarantee collaborative, reliable and effective operation of certificate schemes across Europe; providing a structured environment for the harmonisation of such matters as: registration of production devices; coding schemes; definition of certificates and so on.

In 2016 I entered into an interim contract to advise the Compliance department at Alliander.Alliander operates energy networks which distribute gas and electricity to large parts of the Netherlands, facilitating businesses, homes, transport and recreation. Their strategy? Working closely with their customers to achieve the switch to renewable energy sources.

TenneT is Europe’s first cross-border grid operator for electricity. With approximately 20,000 kilometres of (extra) high voltage lines and 35 million end users in the Netherlands and Germany they rank among the top five grid operators in Europe. Their focus is to develop a Northwest European energy market and to integrate renewable energy. I have been working on topics related to the transition towards a new energy paradigm.My fields of interest are renewable energy and market transparency about the energy sources used by companies and society.I took the position of Policy Advisor to CertiQ, a fully owned subsidiary of TenneT TSO, which is the appointed body for the issuing of Guarantees of Origin for Renewable Energy and CHP as meant by EU directives 2009/28 and 2004/8. Moreover during the years 2007 'till 2011 I have been a member of the workinggroup internal affairs of the Association of Issuing Bodies (AIB).

I have been involved in the initial phase of the TWENTIES wind energy project, focussing on regulatory barriers for large scale integration of offshore wind.This demonstration project, aimed at a secure large-scale integration of wind power into the European electricity grid. TWENTIES has been one of the projects presented within the 7th Framework Programme of the European Community for technological research and development (2007-2013). TWENTIES aimed at demonstrating that rolling out new technologies will eliminate current barriers to integrating more wind energy (both onshore and offshore) into the system. The CMHF is an umbrella organization of professional and interest groups in government, education, healthcare and industry.It is a non-profit organisation that offers legal, financial and conflict solving advice to executives.The CMHF is a member of the MHP, trade union groups for middle and senior staff.

De Unie is an independant trade union rendering services to middle and higher level employees (professional and managerial staff) both in industry and services.I have worked on both negotiating on behalf of the members (about collective labour agreements and social security measures related to reorganisations) and gave legal advise to members on issues relating to labour contracts and social security laws.

The Batavierenrace is a relay race over 177 km from Nijmegen to Enschede, divided into 25 stages (17 men's stages and 8 women's stages) varying from 3.3 km to 11.2 km. More than 300 teams (so more than 7,500 students) participate in this race. Please see also: the Guinness Book of Records. Afterwards, the biggest student party in the Netherlands takes place, with over 12,000 visitors! I was involved with the organising committe during most of my university years, including a one year (full time) appointment as chairman of the organising committee for which a scholarship was granted by the Executive Board of the Radboud University.
