Launch and Maintain the Service Provider Edge Networks for the Western United States.Responsibilities: configure, test, and launch Engineering Edge management switches, CMTS (DOCSIS), and EPON OLT (Ethernet Passive Optical Network Optical Line Terminal) for FTTH (Fiber to the Home); perform regular network service changes and capacity maintenances; maintain code and configuration compliance; troubleshoot/resolve network outages.Accomplishment Highlights: created & delivered a 30-minute in-person training to approximately 100 NOC and Engineering leaders on Incident Management; led the West Division engineers in separating residential and business services onto new networks, completing this major project ahead of our Central and North East Division peers; conceived and helped launch Xavier, an automation tool that enabled engineers to quickly and accurately build configurations thousands of lines long for nightly CMTS maintenances.

Monitor, Maintain, and Troubleshoot the head ends and hub sites for the North Bay Area.Responsibilities: rack, connect, and power up (DC and AC power) head end equipment (routers, switches, ROADM network elements, edge QAMs, optical transmitters/receivers, servers, etc.); monitor equipment for alarms; perform hands-on overnight node split capacity maintenances, physically troubleshoot/resolve ISP (Inside Plant) connectivity issues; partner with OSP (Outside Plant) network technicians to troubleshoot OSP issues; perform periodic FCC and EAS (Emergency Alert System) testing; perform periodic generator load testing.Accomplishment Highlights: audited/resolved ISP fiber connectivity to the head end’s DWDM (Dense Wave Division Multiplexer) ROADM (Reconfigurable Optical Add-Drop Multiplexer); trained fellow head end and OSP network technicians on gathering DOCSIS (Data Over Cable Service Interface Specification) CMTS data to troubleshoot connectivity issues to customer premise equipment.

Monitor, Maintain, and Upgrade the Service Provider Network for California.Responsibilities: create network automation solutions; configure, test, launch, and troubleshoot CMTS's; monitor/troubleshoot the DWDM Optical Transport networks, Converged Regional Area Networks, Inside Plant (ISP), and Outside Plant (OSP); perform Incident Management for network outages, including leading outage conference bridges with engineers, leadership, and other stakeholders.Accomplishment Highlights: contributed to launching Cellular Back Haul Service, Video-on-Demand Content Delivery Networks, All Digital Simulcast Multicast Video, VOIP (Voice-over-IP) Service, and DOCSIS 3.0 for California’s residential and business subscribers; conceived and programmed a CMTS configuration builder using VBA, reducing new launches from 5 days down to 1 person hour; created and implemented new design solutions for multicast video redundancy; trained NOC technicians/engineers to support BGP, OSPF, RIPv2 routing protocols, and multicast routing; configured & launched San Jose State University’s student WiFi network.
