Michael Leverett is the executive director of the Middle Georgia Center for Independent Living, Inc. (d.b.a. Disability Connections). Since the very beginning of the development of Disability Connections, he was actively involved establishing the center for independent living center. He also was an instrumental member of the founding board of directors for Disability Connections. He has a Bachelor of Arts in Speech Communication from the University of GA. He has been working with people with disabilities for the past 27 years. He has worked at Disability Connections in various roles during the last 21 years and recently has been promoted to be the executive director. Michael has over 30 years of experience with Assistive Technology and has received his Assistive Technology Professional certification through RESNA – the Rehabilitation Engineering and Assistive Technology Society of North America. He has also worked with DC staff to learn and gain deeper knowledge of disability issues and how it affects the quality of life of the disability community ranging from transportation, public access, job related accommodations (especially as it relates to Assistive Technology). Furthermore, he also has utilized his skills in media production by creating promotional, training and television media related to various disabilities issues and advocacy.
