Michael is an Architect at Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios, based in the practice’s Bath office. Since joining FCBS in 2013, Michael has worked on a variety of creative reuse and new build projects; predominantly working in the higher education and cultural sectors. His project experience includes the National RIBA award winning Art and Design Building for Bedales School and the National RIBA award winning Royal Birmingham Conservatoire. In addition, Michael has helped deliver the new School of Digital Art for Manchester Metropolitan University, a new Centre for Student Life for Cardiff University and the E3 Learning Foundry for Trinity College, Dublin. Whilst at FCBS, Michael has also worked on several significant masterplans; most notably a £1bn Estate Masterplan for the University of Liverpool. His masterplan portfolio also includes a £250m, 15-year aspirational vision for the National Museums of Ireland and a £25m masterplan for West Dean College in Sussex. Michael is also heavily involved with the Richard Feilden Foundation and is currently leading a project in the remote Ankarafa forest in Madagascar; delivering a new self-sufficient research facility for Bristol Zoo. Alongside project work, Michael is also a teaching fellow at the University of Bath and Associate Lecturer in Architecture at the University of the West of England.Prior to joining FCBStudios, Michael studied Architecture at Bath University and graduated with first class degrees at undergraduate and masters level. At Bath, Michael’s final thesis received the European Architecture Medal and nominated for the RIBA Silver Medal. He was also awarded the RIBA Wessex Design Prize, the 3D Reid Student Prize and shortlisted for the Archiprix Top Graduate in the World Prize. In addition to Architecture, Michael shares a passion for sketching. His hand drawn illustrations have featured in numerous publications and galleries across the country and abroad. Michael’s work received a high commendation at the World Architecture Festival and presented at WAF 2019 in Amsterdam and later exhibited at the Sir John Soane’s Museum in London. His drawings have been shortlisted for the Trinity Buoy Wharf Drawing Prize and twice selected for the Royal West of England Open Exhibition and awarded second place for the Architecture Prize in 2018.
