Over 20 years of experience in project planning, management and facilitation, negotiation, industrial pollution assessment and site remediation, and project implementation. Michael Liang has a detailed understanding of environmental regulatory requirements and institutions currently governing foreign investment in China and the Region. After receiving post-degrees in Environmental Chemistry in Canada, Dr LIANG accumulated extensive environmental consulting experience in Canada and Asia. His professional activities over the past 20 years have included consulting with governments, industry and international lending institutions for major environmental and engineering projects in Canada and China. In the past 16 years, Dr LIANG has been responsible for undertaking a wide range of environmental, health and safety assessments, as well as social accountability audits for multinational clients in many regions of Asia. Dr LIANG's audit experience has covered many different fields, including pharmaceutical, electronics, toy manufacture, textiles, brewery, machinery, metallurgical, chemical, petrochemical industries. His knowledge of environmental regulatory and permitting requirements for industrial operations at both the national and local levels has enabled him to provide regulatory and environmental permitting services for international clients. He has also managed several EIAs for large projects financed by multi-national corporations. Dr. LIANG has extensive connection in local environmental community and enjoys smooth working relationships with local environmental regulators. His current responsibilities with SIET include administrative and technical management, marketing, quality assurance and control, and strategic development planning.
