Global Sustainability Strategy Leader for Environmental Catalysts and Metals Solutions where I’m responsible for developing and implementing value adding sustainability strategy, scope1,2 and supply chain (scope 3) emissions reduction, integrating data/analytics/software tools related to sustainability, implementing measures to assure global regulatory compliance and reporting standards. Leader of the Business Development, Strategic Market Intelligence, and IP Strategy team within in BASF’s Catalyst Division Strategy Group. Focused on expanding and external networks with early-stage companies, universities, research institutions, and government agencies and organizing efforts to leverage partnerships for the development of new technologies and next generation products. Also responsible for Strategic Market Intelligence that benchmarks financial performce of BASF versus competitors and performing deep dive analysis on market dynamics and competitor capacity expansion, product characteristic, pricing, and other critical information. Information is provided to leadership to drive changes to improve profitability and overall business performance. Further responsible for development and execution of the divisional Intellectual Property Strategy including implementing and overseeing IP management processes and reporting, optimizing IP portfolio, developing patent strategies to leverage patent portfolio to protect R&D investments, achieve freedom to operate, and maximize royalty revenue. I also am responsible for executing licenses and performing diligence for enforcement actions. Prior to the roles in BASFs Catalyst division, I led the effort to develop the market entry and M&A strategy to enable BASF to expand into the medical device sector. Before joining BASF, I was a Senior Analyst at Lux Research, a technology advisory and market research firm focused on emerging technology sectors, where he started and led teams investigating Solar Technology, Green Buildings, Water Technology, and the Smart Grid. I am also an entrepreneur and was also the founder and CTO of a nanotechnology start-up that developed and commercializing applications of quantum dots for life sciences, solid state lighting and displays, and solar energy conversion.
