I freelanced for the various newspapers affiliated with the Journal-Topics, which cover the Chicago suburbs of Des Plaines, Elk Grove Village, Glenview, Mount Prospect and many others. I wrote a few stories a week and covered high school sports.

I wrote freelance sports stories for the Winnetka Current, Wilmette Beacon, Northbrook Tower and Glenview Lantern. I mainly covered the schools of New Trier, Loyola Academy, Glenbrook North and Glenbrook South.

I wrote freelance articles for Demand Studios and their participating websites.

I generated media content for TSO's clients, which are mainly trade associations. I wrote press releases and manage the organization's social media networks, which include Twitter and LinkedIn groups.

At the Greencastle Banner Graphic, I covered North Putnam school corporation, the towns of Bainbridge and Roachdale, and DePauw University. I also had a blog, but for the most part, I set up the paper for the next day on the night shift.

I wrote a few pieces for their quarterly arts and entertainment magazine. The magazine covered local events, concerts, restaurants, and various other topics in the Champaign-Urbana, Illinois area.

Des Plaines, Illinois

I wrote numerous articles for the ASSE's monthly magazine Professional Safety. The magazine had a circulation of 23,000. I compiled stories and wrote fact sheets and product reviews.

I wrote blogs and game stories about a variety of college and professional sports. I averaged 3-5 articles per week. I posted all articles online through the site.

I was a reporter for the Daily Illini for over a year. My main beat was the Student Government beat. I was also an online editor at the newspaper, where I posted online content and followed up on breaking news stories.

I wrote stories about the local government and city council elections. I interviewed the aldermen and city mayor and learned a great deal about the city government and the issues that affect the city of Evanston, Illinois.

I wrote sports recaps, articles, and profile stories about three high school baseball teams: the Champaign Central Maroons, the Bloomington Raiders, and the Normal Community Ironmen. I attended baseball games for the three teams and wrote about their players. I posted all stories and multimedia myself.
