The Monroe County Intermediate School District offers specialized education services for youth from birth to age 26 in nine constituent public school districts, two charter schools, and fifteen non-public schools in the Monroe area. By collaborating with local service organizations, the Monroe ISD is able to address systemic and individual issues that impact the youth. As an intern, I collect quantitative and qualitative data to ensure the children are receiving services that are individually tailored to meet the child's physical, social, emotional, and cognitive needs. By teaming up with teachers, professional social workers, and school psychologists, an Adventure Therapy group for preschoolers was created to address youth needs in the areas of problem solving, experiential learning, and friendship building. I plan the programming and facilitate the group.

The Institute for Social Research is the world's largest survey research center. The Health and Retirement Study is a longitudinal research study that surveys 26,000 Americans over the age of 50 every two years. The data collected includes income, work, assets, pension plans, health insurance, disability, physical health and functioning, cognitive functioning, and health care expenditures which offers researchers a wide range of analysis. The data is used by researchers and policy makers across the nation.As an interviewer, I collect data and provide information to participants in the study. I also input data and adhere to a strict protocol to ensure data quality.

Abbott House is a Psychiatric Residential Treatment facility for female youth ages 7 to 17. The facility offers a safe space for youth diagnosed with psychological and behavioral disorders to receive treatment.As a Training and Sensory Coordinator, I taught newly hired staff psychology and human service modules to increase the efficacy of the treatment our facility offered. In addition to training staff, I operated the Sensory Room- a space for the youth to regulate emotions, reflect, and deescalate before, during, or after crisis situations.

Dakota Wesleyan is a small liberal arts university in Mitchell, South Dakota. As a recent honors graduate of the Psychology program, I coordinated group discussions and reviews for tests for Developmental Psychology.

Miami/Fort Lauderdale Area

The Summer Treatment Program is a behavioral modification summer camp for children and adolescents. The day program engages youth in recreational sports activities and in academic settings. Progress is measured from week to week and the effectiveness of the program is measured over time; participants of the summer program are contacted yearly in a longitudinal study.As an undergraduate counselor, I coached three different sports and provided daily feedback for four adolescents in my group. Communication between counselors was of the utmost importance; daily meetings ensured the program ran harmoniously.

The BRIN program connects undergraduate students in the field of biology and health sciences to research in South Dakota universities.As a BRIN intern, I utilized standard scientific techniques, such as the Western Blot, and common laboratory instruments to research enzymatic processes. The project results were published in the Journal of Bacteriology.
