    The interdisciplinary graduate college Pulmosens was a joint project of the three faculties engineering, natural science, and medical, aiming to develop new sensors for lung-related research and diagnostics.In close collaboration with the Institute of Physiology and international collaboration partners, I developed innovative chemical micro- and nanosensors for the high resolution in-vivo detection of physiologically relevant ions. I implemented nanoscale semiconductors and electrochemical sensors and combined them with new partially auto-mated methods of microfabrication.As the speaker of the PhD students in the graduate college, I took responsibility beyond my technical project and organized and shaped workshops and PhD student meetings. Especially the interdisciplinary seminars, collaborations, and discussions shaped my way of thinking beyond the boundaries of single disciplines.
