About Michael Machala

I have worked in clean energy and sustainability for nearly 15 years, both domestically and internationally. My strengths include systems work that encompasses technoeconomics, socioeconomics, policy, the environment, and ethics for appropriate technology design with the potential to scale sustainably. My technical experience spans fundamental research at the atomic level to life cycle assessment and applied engineering in solar, battery, fuel cell, and agriculture technologies. I have lived in Europe and Southeast Asia where I worked in R&D and on renewable energy integration in developed nations and unelectrified villages. Currently, I lead multiple teams in India and Stanford doing similar work. Many of my efforts have involved creating or helping to create new research teams and ventures in the energy and sustainability space.
