About Michael Madrid

Michael Madrid is a Otters for Satellites at Starfish Space. He possess expertise in military, military experience, national security, defense, military operations and 41 more skills. He is proficient in Arabic. Colleagues describe him as "It's hard to overstate how impressive Mike is. Two stories stick out for me that show his entrepreneurial spirit and abilities: 1) I first came across Mike when I launched the Defense Entrepreneurs Forum in 2013. He was the only college student to attend our inaugural conference, paying his own way to do it. Amidst a room of folks with decades more experience, he won our inaugural innovation competition that weekend. He was so fired up by his experience at DEF that he offered to host one at the Naval Academy, unbidden by us. He organized his peers and created an event from nothing in a few weeks, hosting over 100 national security innovators in Annapolis. His example launched numerous others, and 5 years later, DEF is thriving because of Mike's vision and boldness 2) When he graduated from college, he had the chance to go to grad school in England. The catch was that he needed to raise nearly $25,000 per year from private sponsors to do so. Undaunted, a young 22 year old Mike worked all of his connections, and within a few months, raised all the money he needed. Unfortunately, his employer decided to rescind the grad school opportunity, but Mike's hustle forced them to be the bad guy. When I start my next company, Mike is on the shortlist of candidates I plan to hire (assuming I can afford him!). I cannot recommend him highly enough. Talent is rare. Snap him up whenever you can.", "Mike and I founded the Far East Chapter of the Defense Entrepreneurs Forum, a group that connected big thinkers in the defense space together to create impact. Independently, Mike bridged the gap between the US and Japanese by organizing events and leading discussions. He single-handedly improved US-Japanese relations for a generation... and he did it as a side gig. Mike just breathes collaboration and continual improvement. Anytime I am building a team, if Mike is available, I'm going to try to bring him in. If he isn't, my first question to him will be, "When you get done with this, what are you doing next?" No matter what, there will be a next thing with Mike Madrid... and you can be assured it will be amazing.", and "MIDN Madrid showed up at NWDC right at the start of the detailed planning for a major conference, and took every opportunity to support the team from the moment he arrived. No task proved to be too challenging, and his enthusiasm and overwhelmingly positive attitude were very impressive. I hope to work with Mike again once he enters the fleet following his graduation from the Naval Academy. He is well on his way to an illustrious career as a Naval Officer!"

Listed skills include Military, Military Experience, National Security, Defense, and 42 others.
