Your home should be a joy to live in, promote health and well-being, and cost little to heat, cool and maintain. I design energy efficient new homes with classic appeal, old house renovations and restorations, cook's kitchens, custom mudrooms and other residential design projects. I started out building cabinets and stone walls while still in high school; 25 years later I have personally completed every task involved in building or renovating a house, but have found that I'm best suited to helping people design their projects.First, I listen to what my clients say is important, then I use a variety of media--from hand-sketching to computer modeling and drafting--to bring the project to life. I have a deep respect and understanding of how homes used to be designed and built, but also try to stay on the cutting edge of new products and techniques, combining the best and most appropriate for each project.I am based in central Maine but can travel for the right project. I was the first design employee at Fine Lines Construction, which became one of the largest residential design/build firms in southern Maine, focusing on traditional, coastal homes and high-end kitchens. Later I spent a few years as a construction foreman there, then went back to the office, worked as a designer and project manager, and eventually managed a team of architects and designers to produce plans for renovations and new homes for our team of carpenters to build. I also helped start a cabinet shop there and led development of a new website and other marketing activities.
