Michael Maluleke has worked throughout South Africa and conducted engineering geological investigations for township establsihment and engineering design for roads, railway lines, and pipelines. He has also investigated founding conditions for numerous road bridges in South Africa (dolomite and non dolomite land), Malawi and Central to Northern Mozambique.In the Public service: Department of Water and Sanitation; Michael has been involved in groundwater development, assessment, management and protection in KwaZulu Natal. Provided input in the development of regulatory instruments including guidelines, regulations and management processes. Support the development of capacity building material as well as the setting up of research and development projects aimed at improving groundwater development and management techniques. Part of his role in the Department is to liaise with internal and external stakeholders (Water Boards, Municipalities, NGO’s, Provincial Departments, Consultants, Public and private sector). In Water Resource Management: Duties involves support water resources planning and management activities. Provide input into the Provincial Growth and Development Plan and Spatial Planning. Manage and coordinate Provincial Data and input into the National Information System. Develop and manage provincial information systems and project databases. Compilation of various reports on status of water resources and water services. Provide support to the reconciliation strategies for the catchments system for the component. Engage the various Water Sector Stakeholders on the planning and development of Water Conservation and Demand Management in all sectors. Support and implement National Water Resources Strategy, as well as the National Water Master Plan and KZN Provincial Water Master Plan.
