For the past three years my experience has been designing control panels to British Standard BS EN60204 mostly to interface between laser-defraction particle-size measuring detectors, the analysing Computer, environment, operators and Data Management Systems.This involves specifying the following:-Valves, motors, gearboxes, pumps, vessels - based on media, temperature, environment (SELV, intrinsically safe, etc.), flow, speed, ratios, response time, etc.Pipework – based on media, flow, density, pressure, temperature, etc.Cables - based on environment, voltage, current, length, volt-drop, temperature, flexibility, mechanical protection, etc.Enclosures – based on component layout dimensions, heat dissipation / cooling methods, environment, mechanical protection, support method, cable entries, operator accessibility, internal access requirements, customer preferences, etc.Panel Components – based on function, capacity, voltage, price, size, availability, standard approvals, etc.Component Layouts – based on component spacing requirements for cooling or EMC, separation of voltages, operator and maintenance accessibility, etc.I am using Solid Edge CAD software to produce electrical schematic drawings, component layouts, cable schedules, labels and parts lists. I use Design Spark for 3D models for 3D printing.I have previously used Bentley Promis-e V8i electrical design CAD and AutoCAD.I have a wealth of application experience from my years working as a commisioning and service engineer and my background as an apprenticeship trained industrial maintenance technician.
