Lead Project Manager (Infrastructure)Laing O'Rourke Oct 2012 - Jan 2015Moorebank Units RelocationLaing O’Rourke’s Moorebank Units Relocation Project is the largest federal Department of Defence capital works project undertaken since the Second World War. Costing $834 million, the works involved relocating and redeveloping defence facilities and assets from its 190ha site at Moorebank to the smaller 110ha Holsworthy site in Sydney. The logistics alone were of a considerable scale, but the works also had to follow a critical completion timetable. An overall workforce of more than 9000 people made it possible, peaking at 1200 per day. All the while, more than 3000 military personnel continued their duties as construction whirled around them.Digital engineering was used throughout the design and delivery phases, enabling maximisation of time and cost savings for Laing O’Rourke. The works were completed ahead of several target milestones; now complete, around 2000 military personnel have taken residence in the new facilities. -
Senior Project EngineerLaing O'Rourke Oct 2011 - Oct 2012Wollebee Accommodation VillageThe construction of a 1,100-person accommodation village to house workers for the development and ongoing operations of QGC's gas facilities south-west of Wandoan. The project was delivered in four stages to match the ramp-up in accommodation needs. The facility features recreation areas including barbeques, gazebos, a gym, a bowling green and a cricket pitch as well as a training, administration and retail hub. Each room has pay TV, movies-on-demand and broadband internet. The camp will accommodate 1,100 people during the construction of the gas infrastructure within the northern field but will revert to a 550-person facility for the operational stage. Laing O’Rourke carried out the bulk earthworks prior to the installation of the camp. This involved approximately 380,000m3 of cut to fill.My role was responsible for all technical aspects of the project and coordinating and supervising a team of direct staff and 120 sub-contractor staff on a daily basis, ensuring the safe and successful completion of construction activities. To enable this, my team an I made use of digital engineering to plan and deliver the scope of works in a safe and timely manner, on a site where logistics management was a crucial challenge. -
