Prepared licensing package for review by local regulatory authorities to gain approval for use of HDPE pipe in multiple process piping applications. Served as lead investigator for development and publication of feasibility study (EPRI Report # 1025297), that examined current ASME Code status and feasibility of a new material, as it relates to design, fabrication, installation, testing, and maintenance of large bore water systems.

Developed project technical documents for the piping engineering discipline (specifications, calculations, MTOs) for multiple projects across varied industries, including ASME Section III (nuclear) applications. Prepared discipline material requisitions, performed technical bid analysis, and review/approval of vendor/subcontractor documentation. Supported development of nuclear program procedures aimed at obtaining certification to perform work for Class 3 HDPE piping systems now allowed under Code Case N-755 and PE MO activities to NCA-3970 (2010 Edition). Participated in supplemental training initiatives aimed at certification as an ASME Section III RPE (Registered Professional Engineer) for the review and stamping of Code (ASME III) design documents for nuclear applications – initial qualification obtained in January 2011.

Arrange for acquisition of all department needs, including additional personnel, computer software and hardware, and other identified requirements. Oversaw the design and implementation of new pressure testing equipment to streamline in-house testing operations, which resulted in increased product volume throughput. Interfaced with customers, vendors, and other department managers to ensure successful project execution and product quality requirements were met.

Responsible for the direct supervision of other staff design engineers and for performing quality checks on manufacturing drawings, bills of materials, and technical calculations. Implemented new engineering and quality procedures for increased control on engineering functions, such as design change notices, which resulted in a significant (40+% year over year) decrease of product nonconformance reports.
