Researched recent Michigan Employment Relations Commission and Teacher Tenure Commission decisions. Reviewed tentative collective bargaining agreements and current employment contracts between school districts and employees. Assisted in updating the 2009 edition of “The Michigan Teacher and Tenure” book.

Conducted extensive research on a variety of legal issues that Blue Cross is involved with including ERISA, PPACA, Health Care Fraud, Employment and Labor law, and subrogation. Also analyzed contracts and agreements with health care providers and practitioners. Composed memorandums and complied data concerning a variety of employment, health care, and insurance issues.

Assisted the Court-Appointed Attorneys in defending clients through the judicial process, which included the arraignment, pre-trial, sentencing, and probation violation hearings. Met with defendants to discuss facts of the case, review police reports and pre-sentence reports, and to discuss the possible defenses and plea options. Negotiated plea deals with the prosecutor and appeared on the record before multiple judges.

Conducted interviews with potential clients to obtain background information, relevant facts and insurance information. Researched different areas of the law to properly construct a memo that included the details of the case, the applicable theory of law and a recommendation as to the credibility of the client.

Created reports and constructed proposed opinions for the Court of Appeals which included facts, issues, standard of review, analysis of applicable law and a recommendation. Helped produce a regional FOXSports.com website by conducting interviews with professional athletes in the Detroit area. Wrote several columns and edited stories.
