Sweets & More is a student co-op business run by a small group of students and a university-hired, student financial consultant. As a co-manager I carry an equal responsibility, along with my fellow co-managers, to manage the business, as well as ensure it operates smoothly on a daily basis. I am on the Purchasing committee, where it is my responsibility to track inventory and sales on a monthly basis, as well as purchase goods for the store weekly. It is also my responsibility to introduce new menu items from time to time, and price the items properly so as to ensure the business is profiting on each item. During a weekly meeting, my fellow co-managers and I discuss the progress made in the last seven days, as well as the areas upon which we could improve. To conclude each discussion we vote on possible solutions and decisions that had been brought up. I also am responsible for working, at minimum, two in-store shifts per week.

I worked as an assistant to the Machinist who owned the shop. My duties were to load the stock materials into the CNC, milling, drilling, or lathing machines and run the production cycles. When the various parts were finished being produced by the machines, I had to remove the finish products and inspect them for quality assurance purposes. I used various tools, such as micrometers and scales, to do so. On a day to day basis, I would produce about 2000-5000 parts per day, depending on the speed of the machine's production cycle.
