Hey there! My name is Michael Matlock. I think I should start out by saying that I am in a wheelchair. I have had the genetic disorder, Spinal Muscular Atrophy since birth. The disorder is an autosomal disease that affects the motor neurons in the body. This has weakened my muscles overtime and I have very limited mobility. I’ve played video games since I was four years old. They help me cope with my disability and help me relieve stress. I believe games are an art form, and they help people. They help me. This led me to create my own YouTube channel where I make video reviews focusing on accessibility options. On my channel, I go by the name “Crippled Critic” and I try to upload at least once a week. I also write reviews and articles for an independent website dedicated to helping gamers with disabilities called: http://www.dagersystem.com/I am an international speaker and was paid to come to Poland for the GIC conference. There I was asked to host my own panel and speak on the topic of Accessibility in Gaming. I’ve been a guest speaker at the Atlanta at Dragon con for the Accessibility in Gaming panel. I did a lecture at Georgia Gwinnett College for a Sociology of Disability class. I've also done a lecture on Disabled Representation in gaming. I taught a class on Accessibility in Game Design at Georgia Tech. I’ve also done consulting for several different independent game developers, including: Strange Flesh and Lazy Galaxy: Rebel Story
