About Michael Mcalexander
In the stores, I stocked shelves, cashiered, unloaded trucks, and was offered multiple times to join the assistant manager program. At the Walmart Call Center, I received over 50,000 store calls where I was able to resolve the issue; this included all 50 states and Puerto Rico, and it involved nearly every department (the meat department in the main office always gave the direct line to the buyer). The phone calls were primarily Merchandising (Grocery and General Merchandise), but also included specialty hotlines such as Jewelry, Fixtures & 99 (Store Use) Supplies, and the Store Manager Hotline. I helped build a database that enhanced fixture orders. As a trainer (for two years), I rewrote the training manual as a progressive, 4-week, weekly test to ensure success before individuals were not monitored anymore. As a buyer's assistant, the job knowledge became much more granular and comprehensive. I keyed price changes, wrote purchase orders, and worked closely with my buyer on the desk to meet goals and deadlines. In 2009, Walmart realigned the support roles to properly divide the hourly work into three options: order specialist (under replenishment); pricing specialist (under the new Pricing department); and Category Team Assistant (which included the entire department and not just one buyer). I told management to put me where I was needed-- that is how I became a CTA. I organized the entire department's supplier contacts, created an effective cross-reference portfolio of departmental contacts in the office, and learned how to properly and effectively flow information for the department to function as a cohesive unit. In this CTA role, I had no downtime and acquired an incredible amount of skills such as: project management; calendaring; high-volume email efficacy; modular drawing in JBA; modular timelines and each element of the process; trait management; fine-line management; office management; and I took the reins for a nonprofit snack counter in the office work area where the proceeds were donated to local charities. I was present for the incipience of OTIF. As a Category Floorplan Specialist, I drew aerial-view modules in accordance to buyers' wishes; this salaried role allowed me to make more impactful decisions and learn SQL. As a Key Account Manager, I successfully sold packaged goods to Walmart, grew the business, and managed the accounts assigned to me. In all of my retail work history, I was successful in the jobs entrusted to me. In my next role, my hope is to obtain that trust and persevere once again.
Listed skills include Artistic Abilities, Retail, Merchandising, Assortment, and 24 others.

Author
McAlexander's Book of Nouns is now available on Amazon. This compilation is an amalgamation of misused, misspelled, invented, and otherwise incorrect words extracted from cyberspace and reticulated with actual, legitimate, veritable lexemes of the English language, properly assimilated and catalogued with distinction and definition, though many neologies have been included. It is a desideratum of banausic elocution wrought from the dissatisfaction of unsophistication and the disgust of lackadaisical praxis. In laic terms, it is a treatise of proper word selection (and avoidance) for both writing and public speaking. This book contains the substantive, or noun, form of locution; its purpose is to aid in the proper word selection for professional and eloquent writing (and public speaking). It does not contain every possible noun form or analogous word association, though this undertaking has been operose and is sufficiently distinct from alternative references in its endeavor to illuminate opportunities as well as suggest proficient solutions with the utmost civility.
Key Account Manager
Successfully managed the Walmart and Sam’s Club national accounts; managed the regional Harp’s account; integrated new product lines for all accounts; created tools and procedures for efficiency, accuracy, and recollection; learned new platforms and vernacular; processed DC claims and recovered more than 86% of disputes; oversaw more than 34.5 million units sold across the desk.
Category Floorplan Specialist
I arranged category space planograms on JDA ProFloor maps imported from the most current store-specific blueprint while aligning with current category strategies and efficiencies for the specific project. I also assisted with Space Excellence tickets from stores regarding layout concerns, as well as project store milestone monitoring and preparation for store grand openings. These GOs involved multiple applications, difficulty levels of functionality, and job knowledge of the major and special project processes.
Category Team Assistant / Technical Coordinator
I helped stabilize seven buyers, 20 categories, and a cross-functional team of 40+ people. Information came from all areas, such as Private Label, Replenishment, Sourcing, Business Analytics, Pricing, Merchandise Execution, Innovation, Marketing, and other Merchandising departments, among others. I assisted with calendars, technical support, special projects, general problem-solving, room selection and location, product retrieval and drop-off, reporting, entertainment (long story), store trait selection, supplier fixture ordering, and many other unexpected dilemmas.
Buyer'S Assistant
The Buyer's Assistant role was akin to the CTA role with less categories and more immediate impact on the business. For example, I wrote purchase orders and keyed price changes; the CTA role ushered in a pricing team while the replenishment team wrote orders. The transformation change in 2009 was the right decision for the company. The transformation in 2015 was another development to help propel growth and level-set job responsibilities within the company.
Merchandise Agent And Trainer
As a trainer, I fielded questions from phone agents receiving incoming calls from all 50 states and the territory of Puerto Rico. These calls were both merchandising and fixture / store-use item problem-solving questions. In my five years (which included 2.5 years as an agent), I personally fielded over 50,000 phone calls in which I resolved a problem or answered a question.
Stocker And Cashier
I acquired patience, knowledge of products, furthered my people skill set, and honed my desire for customer satisfaction.
