About Michael Mccosker

I am a fourth generation farmer focused on biological and clean, nutrient dense food production. My wife and I live on our farm with our four children and with grandma and grandfather close by. We like to think it is our patch of heaven on earth and aim to share the abundance of our life with as many people as we can.As well as 30 years of farming experience, I have 25 years of consulting experience and have spent much of this time sharing and speaking with other farmers and agronomists. I have business experience in sustainable agriculture including work in many overseas countries. The last five years has focussed on helping rural communities connect to and express sustainable and abundant outcomes including addressing rural health, water quality, catchment health, farmer profitability and food quality.

National Regenerative Agriculture Day (#NRAD) is a united national movement to raise awareness about regenerative agriculture and celebrate the benefits to healing the land and our communities. This day is about a powerful movement of people and connections between our farmers, our educators, our gardeners, our foodies, our students, our #heartyourfarmer and the people of our nation as we attempt to restore balance back to our soils, environments and food chains. This is a movement of people who are standing true for the future of Australia and Earth. It's time to end drought, one farm at a time and bring health, sovereignty and sustainability to the future of our children.
  • Carbon8
    Co-Founder
    Carbon8 2018 - Present
    Wallangra, Nsw Australia
Carbon8 is a subscription-based platform that asks individuals and organisations to sign up for $8 per month to sponsor and support farmers to increase their soil carbon from the lows of 1% up to a target of 8%. With that monthly subscription, farmers are given a financial incentive to increase the carbon in their soil and keep it there. They receive $8 a hectare for every percentage of carbon that is measured in their soil. This creates a modest but consistent income to help farmers maintain and assist in regenerating their farm ecosystem.Regenerative practices that help create healthy soils (and, in turn, healthy food) include Holistic Grazing, no-till farming, maintaining ground cover, multi-species cover crops, crimp rolling, pasture cropping and many other innovations. Donations help farmers update their knowledge and equipment, change grazing management, buy seeds and protect biodiversity. In fact, anything that helps get the carbon in the soil. Carbon8 was created for farmers, by farmers, and is designed to be an ongoing long-term sustainable support for farmers who want to transition to regenerative agriculture. We ensure the farmer has the latest resources and support helping them successfully put carbon back into their soil. Carbon8 stands independent from government support or political parties. It’s a direct chain between the sponsors, our charity of 'What Would Love Do Now' and farmers.
