I work at the City of Oklahoma City Utilities department, they manage the cities water and sewer lines including the water treatment facilities spread through out the City. I design, draw, and assist putting utilities projects out to bid. My duties include removing manhole cover and taking pictures of manholes. Walk the area of the possible job sites I will be working on and forming my design around it. Coordinating with other departments of the City to collect proper data on the project areas and using the GIS computer program to collect as-built data. Once I have collected all the data I sort the information and work with the supervising engineer to come up with a feasible design for the project. Once we have a rough design idea I draw it out making adjustments to the design as the plans take shape. Once the plans are close to completion I start taking quantities, and set up the necessary Microsoft excel spread sheets. Once the plans are complete I give it to the supervising engineer for approval. Once the plans have been approved I assist the engineer by getting the documents for the engineer to fill out so the bid process can proceed and I prepare the information that will be used by the engineer in the bid meeting. I work in GIS to collect as-builts on the utilities itself plus any other possible utility crossing are proposed project. I use Autocad 3D to draft my assigned projects. Working with so many different department I have become accustomed to working in Microsoft office.
