I hold a BA in Nanoscience: Physics and Chemistry of Advanced Materials from Trinity College Dublin, which has given me a solid background in a broad range of physics, chemistry, maths and materials science, and I am currently in the final months of a PhD in Physics, focused on semiconductor photonics. My work serves as a bridge between two different projects in our research group. I study the devices produced by the semiconductor laser group and apply them to aid in the frequency comb project. Working between two groups who otherwise have little contact has taught me how to be adaptable, to network with existing colleagues and make contact with external experts, and to effectively manage time spent on multiple simultaneous projects.
