Mr. McHugh a Senior Water Resouces Project Manager for Aurora Water. He currently manages ecosystems services projects, permitting-requirements for Aurora Water Projects and watershed protection issues. He has more than 30 years of experience in natural, environmental and water resources. He is a professional geologist and holds a B.S. in geology from Fort Lewis College, an M.P.A in management from the University of Colorado and an M.S. in Mineral Resources Ecology from the Colorado School of Mines. His current job duties include: Obtaining environmental permits for development of new water projects and the operation of existing facilities; monitors potential impacts to water operations or proposed projects and participates in rule and policy development processes. He also monitors the recovery programs for endangered species; serves as City representative in areas related to environmental assessments and environmental impact studies; works on permitting of water resource projects and facilities; oversees outside consultants doing work related to environmental studies or permitting.; works upon relevant issues related to water right adjudications and groundwater development; He has a through knowledge of State and Federal environmental statues and policies, Colorado water law and policies, and local government permitting requirements including HB 1041powers and regulations. He has been a licensed independent Colorado Real Estate Broker since 1980.He has strong interpersonal, analytical and negotiations skills; skills in consensus building among diverse and competing interests. He has served on the board for the Colorado Section of the American Water Resources Association as President and completed 3 terms (11 yrs) on the City of Arvada’s Planning Commission. He is a member of the Geologic Society of America, American Water Resources Association, Colorado and Rotary International
