Michael P. McInerney is the CEO for Modern Disposal Services Inc. Modern is a privately owned and operated group of recycling and waste services companies based in Lewiston, NY. Since it was founded in 1964, Modern has led the way in providing municipal, commercial and industrial customers with a full range of environmentally responsible services for managing waste. Now with over 500 employees, Modern services much of Western New York to Southern Ontario. Mr. McInerney has spent over 35 years in the environmental services industry with extensive management experience in the areas of solid, hazardous and medical waste. He joined Wheelabrator in 2014 following his retirement as president of WM Healthcare Solutions following a 32-year career with Waste Management (WM). During his tenure with WM, Mr. McInerney held positions of increasing responsibility including president, division president, area sales and service general manager, area transportation general manager, region health, safety and compliance manager and maintenance manager.Mr. McInerney has remained highly engaged in community activities during his tenure, having served on the board of directors for the New Hampshire Business Industry Association, Mt. St. Mary’s Hospital, Niagara Falls Plant Managers Association and various non-profit organizations. Mr. McInerney also engineered key public/private sector initiatives during his career such as the WM/UNH EcoLine project, a landfill gas-to-energy project that utilizes methane gas from a nearby landfill as the primary fuel for the University of New Hampshire campus.Mr. McInerney studied business management at Niagara University and organizational leadership at Southern New Hampshire University.
