Currently serve as a part-time instructor in the Political Science Department. Lecture courses have included State and Local Government and Introduction to Public Administration. For many students these courses are their first exposure to government. One student has applied to graduate school because of his experience in the State and Local Government course. The student was accepted and is doing well.

Selma, North Carolina, United States

Located near Raleigh, Selma’s 72 employees provide a comprehensive set of services for its 6900 citizens. These services include police, fire, parks and recreation, water, sewer, electric and other related services. Selma’s 2019-2020 budget consist of a General Fund of $ 6.56 million dollars and Enterprise Budget of $13.3 million dollars for a total of $19.86 million dollars.Accomplishments• Implemented a multi-facet strategic plan to address major sewer issues to reduce a 54% storm water infiltration into the town’s sewer system resulting in an estimated $500,000 annual expense.• Approved water and sewer asset management plan.• Successfully recruited a Human Resources Director, Public Services (aka Public Works Director and Assistant Town Clerk.• Began a process to improve fire safety by increasing building inspections in the downtown buildings, developing a coordinated fire hydrant testing and planning for long term maintenance.• Reactivated the town’s safety committee to insure safe working practices and implemented Incident Command Training (ICS) for key employees.

Angier, North Carolina, United States

Located just outside of Raleigh, Angier is a full service, rapidly growing community of an estimated 5300 people. The town work staff is approximately 32 employees. Angier’s 2018-2019 total budget of $6.14 million dollars.Accomplishments• Began working on implementing free wi-fi in the downtown• Began land acquisition to provide for additional downtown parking• Led the move to move the town to a full NC Main Street community and supervised the hiring of a full time downtown manager• Led the process which will result in body cameras for police officers• Led the process of having the town participate in the NC League of Municipalities Law Enforcement Risk Review program• Led or supervised the hiring of several key positions within the town government• Worked with the Board of Commissioners resulting in meeting enhancement and increased collaboration

I served the interim city manager of this full service. I supervised approximately100 employees and with a 20 million dollar budget. Additional training and experienced was gained in the area of water and sewer, public works and finance.

Waxhaw, Nc

As town manager I was response for the daily operations of the town. The town's population has doubled during my tenure. Additional town services were added and existing services were enhanced. I was able to recruit and maintain an excellent staff whose focus was on excellence in local government and truly serving the public.
