I love thinking about all aspects of firm and market behaviour, and have channelled this interest to help firms develop their commercial and corporate strategies. I particularly enjoy working on new products and services, and thinking about issues related to market entry.I am a firm believer in the application of data driven decision making to address business issues. Firms must adequately frame the issues/problems they are trying to solve, develop hypotheses about them, and generate high quality data to address them. Technology is a fundamental enabler, but the successful application of technology is dependent on the right strategy, the right people/skills, and the right processes around it.I believe that markets are complex and subject to change, whether the changes are technological or structural. A strategy is never absolute, and only works in a market context. If that context changes, the strategy will likely have to change also. Firms must identify the unique value they can deliver to customers, and constantly evolve as the market context evolves. I also enjoy developing long term client relationships, and have been lucky enough to have had a number of these throughout my career. They have been founded on trust, a deep understanding of client needs, and a willingness to go above and beyond to deliver for the client. I have also been fortunate to work with a number of outstanding people throughout my career. I have learned from them, and particularly enjoy passing on learnings to others and helping in their development.
