Operations Technician
CurrentIn this rotating 12 hour-shift role, I am part of a team of skilled facilitators and plant operators, responsible for operating the ChlorAlkali facility in the production of Chlorine, Sodium Hypochlorite, Hydrochloric Acid and Caustic Soda and in doing so meeting SH&E, quality, production and cost targets and provide support to achieve site objectives. This site is performance driven and as such, I am part of a highly capable and motivated team, responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the plant.I am responsible for the operation of Plant and equipment via an ABB 800xa DCS both from a Control Room and field operations perspective. It is a requirement of this position to have good communication skills and the ability to multi task under high pressure situations.The role requires knowledge and proficiency with PLC's (Programmable Logic Controllers), control loops, equipment line up, pumps, valves, pressure vessels, boilers, chillers, compressors, centrifuges, heat exchangers, water recycling, reading and using ELD's (Engineering Line Diagrams), and handling of Poisonous, Toxic and Highly Flammable raw materials.My role requires me to understand and abide by site SH&E procedures, including clearances, isolation, emergency, protective equipment, effluent control, accident and housekeeping.Achieve the manufacturing production targets as required.Operate process plants according to site operating procedures.Report and investigate plant performance and operational problems; take corrective action.Complex planning and coordination of production and maintenance activities to achieve production requirements.Perform minor maintenance tasks and assist Reliability Technicians.Prepare plant and equipment for maintenance.Knowledge of site quality principles and procedures.Laboratory testing of final products, in-process streams, and raw materials.Work collaboratively with shift and wider site teams in a consistent, harmonious, and efficient manner.
