Michael is a lawyer with an extensive practice in commercial law, including all facets of entertainment law, but with particular emphasis on filmed entertainment and, latterly, not-for-profit law and governance.Entertainment sector credits include numerous Australian films, television series and documentaries.He has been a director of a public company providing services to broadcast and pay television operators and a former chairman of an Australian Stock Exchange main board-listed company with television industry interests. Michael has also represented various Australian theatrical producers, and on the music front he has worked with artists, managers, producers and labels and was the founding President of the Association of Independent Record Labels (AIR).He also worked with Macquarie Bank in the development of its strategy for entry into the financing of filmed entertainment resulting in Macquarie being a successful applicant for one of the two FLIC (Film Licensed Investment Company) licences awarded by the Australian Federal Government and to the bank's ongoing involvement with the filmed entertainment industry via the Macquarie-Nine Film Funds of 2002 and 2003.Since 2006 he has also provided legal and governance advice in the not-for-profit sector, which has led to successive in-house positions with National Indigenous TV and Achieve Australia.
