Michael Mcpherson is a Retired and loving every moment! at Eli Lilly & Co. They possess expertise in oncology, clinical development, pharmaceutical industry, clinical trials, therapeutic areas and 15 more skills. Colleagues describe them as "I have known Dr. Michael McPherson for over nine years. He hired me at Amgen in July 2002 to join his regional team of Oncology Medical Liaisons. Throughout the 5 years that I reported to Mike, I found his leadership style to be approachable, fair, supportive, and professional. He is an honest individual with no hidden agenda, who always strives to “do the right thing.” He is loyal, caring, and as a manager, you can trust him to be an advocate for you. Having been a Medical Liaison himself, Mike understands (and is able to empathize with) the challenges that are associated with a field-based position. He also knows the value that Medical Liaisons can bring to an organization. Mike has true vision. At Amgen, he was well-respected for his strategic insights, not only among the Medical Liaison team, but also cross-functionally within the broader organization. When looking back at the time that I reported to Mike, several aspects of his character clearly stand out in my mind. Mike is professional, personable, fun, courageous, and simply a nice person. One could not ask for more in a role model and/or a manager. Mike is such a hard worker. He inspires others with his work ethic and he has a true commitment to quality, integrity, and having a positive attitude. Mike values work-life balance and fosters a team environment that is demanding yet respectful of family life. One of Mike’s key strengths is his ability to inspire and motivate a team in such a way that everyone feels respected and supported. There was never any “unhealthy competition” among our team, which is a true credit to his leadership style. As a manager, Mike was extremely approachable and nonjudgmental regarding any issue that his team brought to his attention. He was not afraid to admit when he did not know the answer, but did not hesitate or delay in helping us get the answers we needed. Mike chose not to micromanage our team but was always available as often as we needed him. He was also very responsive and provided timely, constructive criticism that was insightful and actionable. Personally, I learned a lot from Mike while he was my manager. Being new to the Medical Liaison role when I joined his team, Mike helped me get up to speed quickly and then encouraged me to step outside of my comfort zone to take on additional responsibilities/challenges to showcase the depths of my talents and strengths. As a result, I grew tremendously both professionally and personally under his leadership, and I was able to contribute to Amgen at a much higher level. I am grateful for the opportunity to have worked for Mike. I respect him enormously for his integrity and would gladly work for him again in the future if given the opportunity. If I can also serve as a verbal reference for Mike, it would be an honor for me to speak with you further regarding his qualifications. Please do not hesitate to contact me (248-506-7227) anytime. Kelly M. Copeland, PharmD", "Although working for different groups in the Scientific Affairs Department, Michael and I had the opportunity to work closely together on several projects. I found Mike to be very knowledgeable and a good team player. He has very good communication skills and manages projects efficiently. It was a pleasure to work with Mike.", and "I would like to recommend Mike McPherson, based on my experiences with him while working at Amgen Oncology. I found Mike to be both strategically and tactically-minded. While at Amgen, he was an effective manager that was well-liked and respected by his team. Mike had responsibilities for directing a very important aspect to Amgen's business, Speaker Development and Programming. He proposed various strategic courses and executed on the Gs&Os of the program. He is results focused, well rounded and an experienced medical affairs leader!"
