Respiratory Therapist

Ft. Douglas, Utah

Completed three back-to-back training periods with the Army that went from August 1991 to September of 1992. This included #1 Basic Training, then #2 Combat Medic School followed by #3 Respiratory Therapy School. #1 I completed 2 months of old school style basic training in 1991 at Ft. Knox, Kentucky. My training started out with a one mile march carrying all of my Army cloths and belongings in 2 duffle bags. This duffle bag march ended with an old school style introduction to the drill instructors at our basic training barracks. My basic training experience ended with a 12 mile ruck sack march through the back country of Ft. Knock just a few days before graduation. #2 After Basic Training I completed 3 months of Combat Medic School. I was EMT certified at the completion of the 3 month training. This was at Ft. Sam Houston, TX located next to San Antonio. #3 After Combat Medic School I went right into Respiratory Therapy School. This included 4 months of classroom training and testing. This for months eliminated 70% of my class from the course. The next 4 months was hands on training at Brooke Army Medical Center in Ft. Sam Houston. After my training I completed 8 years working as a respiratory therapist as an Army Reservist at Ft. Douglas, Utah. After my 8 years I transferred to the Army National Guard to be trained as a Civil Engineer.
