Joined the Manufacturing Operating System team to accelerate development of next-generation manufacturing execution systems, initially for the new Model 3 Platform. Created the workflow for quality assurance defect capture as well as process task execution during the manufacturing process. Promoted to management of the MOS front-end team of 4 developers to finish the AngularJS UI for MOS by the launch date of Model 3. Optimized bundling and application page-load performance by a factor of 10x. Started the web-based SCADA team at Tesla to create a high performance web framework for manufacturing controls engineering, called ARC. ARC screens run on large TV displays and line-side touchscreens in Tesla Factories around the world providing real-time information on congestion, part flow, station status, line status, and non-conformance defect rates. Tesla board of directors members introduced me to Elon Musk for my work on ARC at end of line rectification during the model3 5k/week push in summer 2018.

Full stack developer on the Fleet Networking Team. Contributed to multiple Ruby and Golang web-applications that form the core services for Tesla vehicles; Mothership, Garage, OwnerAPI, Energy, etc. Lead developer of OwnerAPI, the Ruby backend for the Tesla Mobile App to remotely control vehicles. Created monitoring tools and visualizations for the state of the entire Tesla connected car fleet, which were displayed at Tesla Headquarters, called Oculus. Created plotting and timeseries visualization tool for Hadoop/Datalake teams, called Periscope. Enhanced web based tooling for remote command and control of vehicles. Added finer grained controls for targeting groups of cars for specific software updates. Performance optimized OTA rollouts to vehicles with CDN delivery of vehicle OS patches. Contributed to the fleet's communication platform called Hermes, which was initially created during a company hackathon. Contributed to process design for Model 3 manufacturing; end-of-the-line fusing.

Full stack developer on multiple projects including www.fan.tv and internal tooling. Built a highly performant (jank-free and consistent 60fps) full-screen parallax marketing page for the flagship product launch. Led the web development team of 4 engineers, 2 designers, and 1 QA engineer to develop the mobile web application on an aggressive 6 month schedule. Integrated modern front-end technologies into the existing web application with a 20k LOC legacy code base. Created a multi-threaded dependency management framework for efficient networking in Ruby. Re-architected the application network layer bringing worst case pageload performance down from 10-12s to 600ms on the most data heavy pages. Architected, designed and implemented a complete reboot of an internal tool used daily by a team of data analysts for associating Media with Metadata. Developed a real-time debugging tool that connects to an android OpenGL interface on the set-top-box and allows on the fly modification of application state.

Lead front-end developer on www.cloud.acer.com, an HTML5 cloud storage project. Designed and implemented a responsive-design layout to support various display screen sizes. Localized the application into the i18n languages, taking into account the various effects on layout with right-to-left languages. Added minification and concatenation to the build process for increased load performance and run-time execution of Javascript and CSS. Developed a shared web component library including a video/audio player based on MediaElement.js as well as drag-and-drop upload. Implemented a Selenium WebDriver and ImageMagick test suite for browser test automation with image diffs for rendering bugs. Created a custom Javascript Class implementation to encapsulate prototypal inheritance and provide a 'Super' reference to overridden methods.

Lead front-end developer on a 3D web-based medical imaging application "Versaweb". (https://ziosoftinc.com/) Increased application frame rate 3x through rendering and networking optimizations enabling a frame-rate of 15fps in Internet Explorer 6 without any plugins. Added minification with YUI compressor and concatenation to the build process for efficient networking and execution of Javascript and CSS. Sprite-mapped button icons to minimize HTTP resource requests and speed up loading-time. Implemented touch and gestural interface for touch-enabled devices, including CT-scan view panning, pinch zooming, as well as x-ray radiosity window-level/width to grayscale mapping. Implemented view-sharing across users for simultaneous view sessions. Localized the application into Japanese, French, and German.

Research associate in the bioinformatics laboratory of Professor Guillaume Bourque. Investigated the evolutionary origins and functions of retrotransposons; cross-species statistically-identified repeating genetic structures. Generated statistical plots of retrotransposon mutation across different species (LINEs and SINEs) for publication. Utilized the UCSC Genome Browser to download and analyze multiple specie genomes. Wrote cross-genome statistical analysis scripts in Perl and the R statistics environment.
