The following include key responsibilites: • Provide direction in what tools used for ETL, replication, etc. • Lead corporate standards in Database Design Patterns for both relational databases and data warehouses• Work with Platform Architects to define Data Storage Techniques such as Direct attached disk, SAN, SSD, RAID configurations• Provide direction in Database Optimization Techniques such as Partitioned Tables, Queues, TSQL, Query Plans, Data File Separation, Partial Backup Techniques, Indexes, XML optimization• Provide guidance in Database HA Techniques such as Clustered SQL Servers, Mirroring, Replication, Log Shipping, SAN Replication and Third Party tools for failover• Direct analysis of requirements for new solutions or extend functionality, sometimes integrating with legacy systems outside of the database• Make key recommendations in technology and create the business plans for the commendations.
