Just a little background about me. I was born and raised right here in North Carolina. Love this area and it's been my home my entire life. Close to friends and family. Love to travel, anything to do with muscle cars, getting out for a round of golf (as you can see from my profile picture) and doing the little things in life. At a young age, I had a gift for drawing. Have over 13 years of private art lessons. Learned a lot in the process. Taught me how to be patient and gave me a keen eye for detail. Made me a perfectionist. Still possess these qualities today. Obsessed with keeping things organized. Whether it is our lab at work to make our jobs easier or at home. Use 5S daily.Now for my work. Have been with my current employer from Day 1. Currently, I am a Senior Product Development Technician. In this position, I work along side Research and Development engineers to create new products that meet and exceed customer expectations. Usually in the form of coatings used on our base film products. Not only do I work in a lab setting, I work along side production to scale up what we create in the lab to fulfill commercial orders. In the lab, this is where tests are run, data is collected and create presentations or tables to show our findings. Sometimes new tests and documentation need to be created during the process. At the same time, I wonder what my job title and responsibilities are. Since I started out on the production floor as a Subject Matter Expert and have taken my knowledge to advance with-in the company, I'm all over the place. One day I will be pulled to assist with trials and sample order request on the production floor, the next will be in mixing prepping slurry for a coating trials. Even work with corporate/sales to create packaging solutions for customer needs. At the end of the day, I enjoy what I do. However, team members have come and gone and the department is constantly changing. I'm at the highest level I can get with no place for advancement. Feel like being good at your job can be a blessing, but at the same time a curse. Looking to pursue an Engineering position (Process, Manufacturing, Packaging) to advance my career and use the skills and knowledge gained in my current position to benefit or make a difference else where. Looking to hit the ground running and make an impact right out of the gate. Have an engineering degree and it's not getting me any where where I'm at. Sometimes having a different perspective can make all the difference in the world. Time for a change. Looking forward to the next chapter.
