I retired from my career as a government attorney, bought a ranch in the Sierra foothills of northern California, failed as a cowboy, then began studying B2B platform business structure theory. I also bought a rusty old yellow surplus backhoe and began pushing back my sliding hillside. Soon a hydraulic line ruptured spraying hydraulic fluid high into the air. To add insult to mechanical injury, an unearthed fire ant bit me on my neck. Now I'm not claiming any of this bears direct relevance to what I report next, but suddenly I found myself enamored by the newly-emerging state-of-the-art home construction technology; "3D printing" of homes. Robots running off sliced-down G-Code gliding smoothly on rails or skid tracks around two-dimensional curves, lines and circles while silently extruding rows of concrete paste that pile one upon another forming straight or curvy walls which grow taller and taller and soon take on the shape of a perfectly-formed home that will cure to rock-solid perfection in a matter of hours. I never read a law book that could do that!I founded Construction 3d Printing Partners to help facilitate incorporation of the subset of 3D printing technology--3D concrete printing of homes using state-of-the-art robotic printing technology--into the traditional multi-trillion dollar wood-framed home construction industry here in the United States. Many other businesses and industry trade groups share pursuit of this common goal, here and abroad, in the belief construction 3D printing can rapidly increase production of strong, fire and pest resistant homes at greatly reduced costs, and thereby begin remediating the global housing shortage and homelessness crises. I agree, and further believe we can all benefit from the sharing of industry knowledge and expertise toward achieving that common goal. There will be more than enough ideas and work to go around!
