Serve NJECC as a Trustee and help coordinate and run monthly meetings and annual conference for NJ educators.

Have spent the last six years helping our school district, six buildings and 3200 students, reimagine what learning can look like with a device in every student's hands. In order to do this, I was responsible for creating an effective job-embedded professional development program, empowered teachers to become leaders and learners across the district, and worked with a team of six to strategize how to implement and manage a network that supports the learning environment we sought to create.

Organized and managed cultural exchange trips with two schools from Fukui, Japan since 1999 to foster greater cross-cultural understanding, improved communications, and collaboration between our cultures.Created first science exchange (STEM exchange) between Fukui Prefecture’s Super Science High School Koshi High School and New Providence High School in 2009. The exchange and learning is still going on with this one of a kind partnership.To commemorate and raise awareness of the threat to humanity of nuclear weapons, I worked with the Peace Memorial Museum in Hiroshima, Japan to bring a mobile exhibition of artifacts from Hiroshima to New Jersey as well as bring a "hibakusha" "atom bomb survivor" to speak to audiences across the state of New Jersey in churches, schools, and public libraries.Researched, developed and implemented “Flipping the Classroom” instructional practice by means of the free app ShowMe. www.showme.com/mitchellsensei. Currently teaching roughly 10K+ students around the world with my free Japanese lessons. This allowed my classroom to become a place where students where able to practice and use the language in fun and creative ways that was authentic and meaningful for them.Researched, developed and implementing school district’s first AP Japanese curriculum.Expanded Japanese program of 12 students in 1998 to one of New Jersey’s largest Japanese programs with over 100 students by 2011.Led school’s Youth and Government and Model United Nations clubs assisting students in their ability to critically think, solve problems and debate various points of views with students from New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Delaware.

Collaborated with fellow team members to strategize, design and implement programs for our clients’ needs to assist them in becoming reflective and learning organizations.Facilitated experiential activities for clients assisting them with and providing insight into culture change in their organizations and personal growth.Maintained and facilitated activities on high-end ropes courses to develop interpersonal skills and increase teamwork with our clients. Our belief was that learning was visceral and learning had to have that component for it to stick and transform.
