Michael Moffitt, PhD Biomedical Engineer with particular interest in electrical and now photonic modulation of neural systems. I recently accepted a research professorship at CWRU, after working in the medical device industry for over 18.5 years. At Boston Scientific, I enjoyed driving innovation focused on Spinal Cord Stimulation and Deep Brain Stimulation, and the intent of my move back to academia to drive cutting technology and science with a view toward translation. I bring broad experience to my activities, ranging from individual contributor to management roles, and spanning development of sophisticated models and algorithms - now in commercial product, risk management, generation of intellectual property, technical support for regulatory submissions, working with physician-customers and patients, and leading team members in similar activities. As the DBS technical lead for many years at Boston Scientific, I contributed to the building of a franchise within a division. I now work with my collaborators and lab members to build foundation understanding and data with an eye toward driving innovation for patients in the neurological and medical device space.Strengths: technical expertise, communication, the ability work well with people - both internal and external, and the ability to envision novel solutions to problems, a sense for how things will or will not be valued by customers and others.Select publications and patents are noted below.
