Our reading intervention program is outstanding. Our FAST scores have improved 25% the past two years. We constantly look for opportunities to improve our staff's professional development. We have collaborated with the Cherokee and Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn School Districts the past two years. The experiences have been extremely positive for our teachers and administrators, so we will continue to this tradition. Working in a positive school environment makes everything we do, as educators, worthwhile.

I don't know of another middle school in the state of Iowa that had higher academic improvement in reading and math than we had in the four years I was principal. I helped improve our student achievement by developing individual educational plans to meet the educational needs of each and every student in our school. I assisted our teachers with improving their instructional strategies. One of the keys to our successful school was the consistent support we receive from our Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) and developing our student leaders. Our reading and math intervention programs were second to none. Our teachers implemented research-based practices at the current level of the student and we built their skills and confidence. Our data was extremely strong helping students below their academic grade level.
