Senior Superintendent - Core And Shell
I had met with Carmel Partners prior to leaving for LA. We immediately connected and found mutual acquaintances and values, tying back to one of my first Lend Lease project sites, and a relationship with a prominent superstructure subcontractor.Fast forward a few years, where Carmel and I teamed up to help support their Core and Shell efforts at a nearly 650k SQFT Brooklyn Site. I joined the existing project team with foundations fully mobilized, and predetermined logistics. As a team, we were able to complete the foundation phase by our targeted month, but not without quickly realizing that a long-term overtime program needed to be implemented.Five months later, with over 22,000CYs of concrete poured, a crew of 350 plus, we topped out our North Tower nearly a month early. Our South Tower, had been topped out three months prior. We had topped out the brick facade at L10, and a aggressive sheet-rocking program was well underway running a three day cycle per floor, for walls and ceilings.

General Superintendent
During a trip back to the East coast, a colleague who I had met during my internship in 2006, had asked if I could visit a residential job-site that he was a Project Executive on. After a quick site walk I generated action items to help get the site up to expected standards for a mid-rise project. Turns-out the list of items generated would lead to my next opportunity after my decision to move back to the East coast, during uncertain times. Back on the East Coast, I was tasked with supporting Shawmut’s second largest project pursuit (209m) the Waldorf Hotel Renovation. Fast forward nearly three plus months, a handful of meetings, some familiar faces on the Owner’s side and the project was awarded to Shawmut! This was a great achievement, but an even larger decision was looming. A decision to not pursue this particular project. While evaluating the organizational chart for this project, it was evident that this project would require resources, company acumen, and team cohesion that had yet to be developed. Despite this decision, I became the project lead for a structurally challenging project. Repurposing two 1890’s structures to function as a new house of worship and a school was difficult. A new foundation in sequence, new structural elements within existing load bearing walls, new stair case locations and an elevator shaft were just a few of the items we had to overcome there.
Construction Manager
At times we never fully understand the impact we have on a person or organization. In my case, it was not until I had landed in LA that I fully understood the impact I had made on a Suffolk employee who had spoken with the Field Operations VP at Webcor, a former Suffolk, General Superintendent. Moving to the West Coast was a dream, and was the advice of a mentor from Lend Lease. This would prove to be one of my best career decisions! Within a few short weeks of living on the West Coast the leadership of Webcor asked me to attend a three day leadership development course, then shortly after, asked me to complete a 14 week guided leadership development course. For some, Leadership comes natural, for me it is a life long commitment. A dedication to look within for improvement, reflection, a commitment to becoming a world class listener, to creating an environment where teams operate with purpose, ownership, and permission to fail. With shiny new tools in my tool-belt, the team at Webcor had massive expectations. From being named CoChair of the safety team, to joining a group of five members to help develop a How-To manual for our younger team members, to being named Webcor Innovator of the year for creating a very easy to follow matrix which our Supers and PMs used, to being inducted to Webcor Circle. Unfortunately, as 2020 ramped up with its outside COVID forces, our next project of $420m was shelved and our Senior Leadship team decided to disband. While short in duration this experience created strong relationships ties with excellent builders.
Senior Superintendent
Joining the newly developed Suffolk team in NYC was a great reunion with one of the lead estimators from Lend Lease. With a start-up mentality, and a small and nimble team, we were eager to cause positive disruption within the industry, with support from seasoned long-time Suffolk staff, who had relocated from Boston. The project that I was hired for never made it to the construction phase. As a result our team was asked to support other GC’s, on some of their active projects. These projects lacked planning, development and/or consistent progress on site. While some of the sites lacking our branding, it allowed us the opportunity to created life-long relationships with prominent industry leaders.
Field And Office Lead
70 Vestry was a reunion with a portion of the initial Lend Lease Team. Initially, I was only supporting field related activities but as the project evolved, I was promoted to Project Lead; supporting and leading the field and office. With additional responsibilities and expectations, this role pushed me to develop a new leadership mindset and tested my abilities to support a sophisticated developer at such a high caliber.
Superintendent Ii
Working with Bovis, back then and now known as Lend Lease, was an amazing opportunity which allowed me to work on some of the most iconic structures in the New York City Skyline. Initially I started out in a very dynamic APM/ Asst. Super role supporting both sides of the operation on Lobbies and Amenity Spaces. This was absolute a challenging task that afforded me the opportunity to sharpen skills that are not typically offered to dedicated field members or project managers. With a few successful RAMSA designed spaces completed, I evolved into supporting field operation roles, managing building facades, roofing, site work, and demolitions. After managing a tricky demolition, I transitioned to supporting cast-in-place concrete operations and logistics. After working on some of the tallest residential structures in Manhattan, I supported my first site as a Field Lead, leading my first team of superintendents. One of my later projects placed me in charge of a logistically challenging site, that required a carefully planned secant foundation next to the adjacent lots to shore up 1800’s structures.
